1/100 MG Destiny Extreme Blast mode Review

Well Im finally done with the photoshoot and the review! Took me awhile I know but I’ve been quite busy nyeh~

Master Grade Destiny Extreme Blast Mode is a special version of the normal master grade destiny. It comes with chromed plating parts, a few special effect parts and the most important inclusion(for me at least) the wings of light effects! Oh and the decals are mostly in gold/bronze instead of the usual silver.

Also included are clear figures of Shinn Asuka and Kira Yamato

And also included are small unpainted figures of pilot Stella Loussier and Shinn Asuka

I bought him last time in Singapore, can’t even remember the price anymore >.>

Construction didn’t really take that long. 5 days if I’m not mistaken? Nothing particularly hard either. Just ugly nub marks when I took the chrome parts off from the frame. Why wasn’t I pissed as much compared to unicorn? Well that’s because unicorn has it all over his body making them very visible. And most of the nub marks on the chrome parts aren’t really THAT visible.

We shall start with articulation for this kit:

The head can spin a full 360 degrees

The neck armour at the back of the head that usually hinders other SEED master grades aren't really a problem here.

The usual neck forward/backward motion is present

As shown here.

Arms are not obstructed and can swing a full 360. Please note that this is without the wings attached.

Shoulder armour can go up that high

The shoulder can be pushed out quite far revealing some internal chrome parts

Arm can bend almost a full 180 but is obstructed abit by some armour

The lower part of the body can rock side to side

The body can turn only up to that far because the skirt armours are blocking

There's a tab at the back of his body which you can pull out abit

The upper body can then swivel back more

Skirt armours can each individually move cause they're on a ball joint except for the side skirts, they're on a peg that connects to a polycap

The leg can bend out that far. I don't know if you can bend it out further cause I was too scared it might break. The joints are really stiff by the way.

There's a small "switch" under his crotch. LOL that sounds so wrong xD

When the switch is flipped, the legs can spread out even further!

The legs can swing forward that far

And backwards that far

I love the armour panel separation on the legs for this model kit. Pay close attention to his thigh armour

When bent on the upper joint, the thigh armour slides to shoe some of the inner frame parts. Now pay attention to the knee armour

Now the knee armour separates when bent fully. Awesome!!

The front part of the foot can bend upwards that far

This is one part which is implemented better than force impulse. The pistons on the foot can slide out too but this time it won't slide out fully OUT of the cylinders, which means no problems!

The wings can open out fully

The wings can be swung backwards too

And finally the peg that joins the wings to the jetpack can be pulled out abit for further articulation! *thumbs up* Mine are kinda loose now though >.>

That’s it for articulation. As you can pretty much see, the articulation on this model is top notch! The joints are stiff and the armour separation on the legs are amazing! You can probably tell that the panel lines are ugly. You see, my black gundam marker is kind of being an ass and won’t fully ink the lines. Ah well~

The beam sabers snugly fit on his shoulders. They're not really beam sabers though, more like beam boomerangs.

The long beam effects are used for close combat

M2000GX high-energy long-range beam cannon:

Beam cannon unfolding from back.

Handle unfold. Cannon full length.

That's it. There's no other way of posing with this weapon xD

There's a green sight for the cannon

Shield:

Destiny comes equipped with one normal shield that..

Can slide open abit. Nothing special here xD

But then..why would he need that when he has..

The MX2351 “Solidus Fulgor” beam shield generator!:

The yellow piece on the back of the hand opens up

Generating a beam shield! This is more practical than the solid shield methinks.

It can stop most beam attacks! Can the regular shield do that? Hmm~

Final thoughts:

Well This kit was definitely interesting to build. Had quite a few runners too. The wings of light alone are definitely worth getting the Extreme Blast Mode for! But then they give you chromed parts too and some special effect parts like that effect that he uses when he throws the boomerangs. Yes I did not pose him with his beam rifle since..well..there was no use to it anyway. Get it or not depends on what you think is worth it. If you don’t care about the wings of light and the special effect parts then don’t buy this. You might as well just buy a normal version and paint the parts chrome yourself. If you think the WOL are awesome then get this! Either way, Normal version of EBM version, you won’t regret buying this kit!

Pros:
– Alot of special effects to play around with.
-Chromed parts.
-Stiff(can stay in the pose longer).
-Comes with a stand.
-Leg armour separation.
-Many gimmicks.
-Very good articulation.
-WINGS OF LIGHT.

Cons:
– Chromed parts leave ugly nub marks.
-Stiff(might break if too much force is used).
-Swapping the hands alot leaves the polycap wider and this makes the hands VERY loose.
-Cannon has no use except for that one pose.

In the end the choice is yours and yours alone. I’m completely satisfied with this purchase and that’s what matters the most 🙂
