Wow, it’s been ages since I’ve reviewed something. If I’m not mistaken, the last item I’ve reviewed was MG Astray Blue Frame, and that was in..January? Or February? Anyway, I asked the local hobby shop to order one for me last time, right when I started watching Kiva(a few weeks ago), now that I’m done with the show, the figure itself is released too

You spin my head right round, right round~ Sorry for the bad camera work. I rested my camera on a tissue box, yup I need to get myself a tripod(gorillapod if I can find one) ^^
Capes for the win. Capes just make anything 10x better. Articulated capes are even better.
Emperor Form is badass. A gold kamen rider, what’s not to like? This is basically his upgraded form in the show. Sadly, he loses the awesome chains around him, but on the other hand, his suit turns gold, looks more emperor-ish, gains a cape, and a crescent crown jewel thing on his head appears. Yes, he is ready to kick major ass in this form.

I’m Kurenai Wataru, and I approve of my badassness in S.H.F form
Unfortunately, his character’s not badass enough. Tendou Souji on the other hand..
Moving on, let’s look at the details of this figure

Compound Eyes are present and accounted for. Lovely!

Garuru saber, Bashaa magnum, Dogga hammer Fuestles are painted *thumbs up*

Wake up, Castle Doran, Buroon? Or Tatsulot? Fuestle are painted too ^^

Kivat The 3rd! Wish his eyes were of a translucent material though, but that’s just nitpicking xD I’m just glad he’s painted, unlike the gaia memories on the W figures
Accessories:

4 pairs in total. Weapon holding hands, Closed Fist, Posing hands, Open relaxed hands. I’m not sure how to explain the “posing hands”, it’s the one with his fingers doing kind of like a half way “rock on!” pose. He does this a lot in the show if I’m not mistaken, and no, not while listening to rock music xD

Zanbat Sword! The blade is made up of a translucent material, so you can see right through it(as I’ve circled above to show that you can see the hand behind the blade). Has a “crystal” look to it. Very nice. Oh and I forgot to mention that the..erm..bat? can move up and down along the blade
Articulation:

Arm can bend a little over 90 degrees

Standard S.H.F joint for the shoulder. Not sure how to explain it. It’s kind of like a ball joint in the body and a swivel peg joint thing? Similar to figmas except it’s tiny for figmas while here it’s huge, which means wide range of articulation for the shoulder joint

Double jointed leg, but you won’t be able to achieve 180 degrees. Somewhere between 130ish degrees me thinks ^^

Pelvis uses a swing mechanism, coupled with a ball joint. I really like this type of connection ^^ allows more articulation for the legs

Ouch? That does look painful. Anyway, just trying to get my point across. There’s a couple of joints for the upper torso. The top half of the body connects to the middle body and the middle connects to the waist. Lots of articulation right there *thumbs up*
Articulation for the head is very basic. It can spin 360..and that’s about it? The head connects to the neck and the neck is articulated, but very limited, most likely because of the helmet’s design.
Fully extended cape(Batman?! LOL)
If you extend any more than previously shown.
The cape is made up of 4 pieces, 2 main parts that connects to the suit(using a peg connection)and 2 smaller ones that connect to the 2 main parts of the cape(using ball joints)
Disappointments:

Omg wtf?! Nub marks? Or paint chips? Either way that’s outright terrible

Left Knee guard is kind of loose. Easy to put back in, but also easy to knock out :/
Feet are not diecast. The dude’s got quite a heft to him, but his feet are not diecast, which means he likes to topple quite easily.
And I’m kind of disappointed by the head articulation. Can’t blame it though, helmet design hinders it I guess?
What’s my verdict? Well he’s a pretty nice addition to any S.H.F collectors. He’s got a couple of faults but nothing too major I suppose(the nub mark is probably the worst one I’ve found so far). If you love the show and the character himself then I’m guessing you don’t need me to persuade you into getting this. If you’re on the fence, then I say get him. Fantastic figure with very very nice details all around. If you like lots of accessories, then this guy falls short on that area. Only hands and a single sword(albeit a very nicely detailed one), if you don’t like Kiva, I still suggest you try and get one if it’s on sale or something. He’s a really nice figure to have ^^
Action time!
Wow, of all things, I forgot to take pictures of him doing a rider kick. Fail -.-” Oh well, Zanvat sword is all he needs anyway xD
Omake:

OMG~! Thunder stealer~! XD
Nice review after a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong hiatus. Good articulation and detail always wins the day, in my book. Then again, so does Luka. =D
Yeah, damn long hiatus I was in xD
Luka wins..all the time..*stares*
360 spin ftw! awesome review and very nice get. im holding back on getting him since im trying to make my own… in gundam form, that may never complete XD are you going to hunt down an IXA to compliment him? haha
giant tuna > vampire bat lol
Ah yes, the RX-78 kiva you’re trying to make, yes? xP
I was trying to look for IXA in Singapore, but couldn’t find one
The Tuna shall own!!!!
Lol welcome back after such a long hiatus! Nice detailed review man. But nub marks are definitely a big no no for completed figures!!
Tuna owns everything ^^
Thanks man, it’s been awhile that I reviewed anything, and yeah nub marks are really horrible ._.
dang, we all missed this kind of review XD
oh hey, DAT CROTCH KNEEL!
and yeah, beware of flying tuna XD
xD I hope this review didn’t disappoint
crotch..kneel for teh win?!
Always look left and right before crossing, a flying tuna just might hit you in the head LOL
I hate nubs on figurines
Yup, noone likes nub marks, especially on figurines
Oooh, Faddy got better with his camera skills. Nice shots and review! Gotta take note of the swinging pelvis. =)
And the tuna just hit Kiva Emperor… oh wait. Will Wataru take the fish to make violin varnish? O.o
Really? didn’t notice I improved, thanks anyway
More stinky violin varnish!? LOL just hope he doesn’t make any more pasta out of those varnish
Normally you don’t notice you yourself improve, someone has to tell you unless it is some kind of drastic improvement. XD
OH MY! That’s a damn bad nub mark……
Yeah, it it =(
It was a cool figure for me due to it details but the nub marks…Ouch!
Nub marks..why do they have to appear?? D:
actually it’s not tatsulot fuestle
it’s
wake up, Castle Dorran, and Bron Booster
nice review
Ahh thanks for clearing that up ^^
^^
I wonder if you have any spare time
would you mine make a post about comparison of Kiva and Dark Kiva
or the Dsetiny with the ABF
including the short fight
like you did with the Destiny and Exia before
that was funny and cool
I’m going to get my ABF soon, and I’m planning on getting the Destiny too
^^
Unfortunately I do not have access to my gundams right now, they’re packed away and I’d need to go through them in boxes. The comparison of Kiva and Dark Kiva I can do but I dunno when I’ll be reviewing Dark Kiva. My apologies :/
Nice review, I’ve seen first 2 episodes of Kiva, well those 2 episodes are enjoyable, I want to get this figuarts myself. The SIC version is an exclusive (probably been discontinued, or places like ebay selling them at ridiculously high price). Maybe I’ll get Dark Kiva instead of this cuz it looks cooler IMO
Hahahha, those nubmarks are common in figuarts I think, both my figuarts, another agito and Accel have them :\, i just run them over with gunndam marker of similar color to help cover those nubmarks up lol
Dark Kiva has a more..evil aura feel to his figure. I don’t really like the SIC line as it kind of makes the kamen riders look somehow more..evil looking? And over the top details plus the size is way too big and expensive price tag. But to each their own as some might find the extra detail more aesthetically pleasing ^^
Ooo good idea, gundam marker..didn’t think of that LOL thanks for sharing
